SACIM Australia was established in 1973, and this year marks the 53rd year that we have supported nearly 1,000 disadvantaged children to undergo critical, life-saving surgeries.

In the early years, our role was to establish contact with hospitals and medical personnel, to welcome the children, to provide foster parenting during their stay, to admit them to the hospital, to visit and comfort them, and to care for them until they could go home. This assistance was kindly provided by volunteers.

In recent years, due to cost advantage, the children are treated either in private medical establishments in Mauritius, or are sent to low cost countries like India for treatment. We fully or partly fund all cases brought to us.
